Did you know...?

This unique silvery green Snake Plant called Moonshine looks incredible. This particular variety is a hybrid but the plant family it comes from, called sansevieria, are found growing naturally in arid areas like Madagascar so they have adapted to drought.

Drought tolerant plants are easy to look after because you don't have to water them often. The coolest fact about this plant group is that they have developed to photosynthesize during the day but only exchange gases at night, to reduce the chance of dehydration. This process is called Crassulacean Acid Metabolism or CAM. We don't believe there is enough evidence to suggest these plants reduce snoring (you'd probably have to fill your room with them, ha) but this process is why many suggest placing snake plants in a bedroom because oxygen is pumped out while you sleep.

Bright, indirect light is best but they can tolerate lower light areas too. Snake Plants hate wet soil so our recommendation is to water every 2-3 weeks if in a bright warm spot but less in the winter months and if placed in a low light room. A moisture meter is highly recommended so you can check the soil moisture level before getting carried away with the watering can.
